BASKING RIDGE, N.J. - GXS, a leading provider of business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions, has signed a contract with Verizon Business for highly specialized network and professional services to support GXS Trading Grid®, the company's on-demand, global integration services platform, which serves more than 35,000 business customers worldwide including 75 percent of the Fortune 500. As part of the agreement, Verizon Business will provide GXS with managed services for its core business network infrastructure.
"As our business has grown throughout the world and the needs of our customers have become more complex and more bandwidth-intensive, it became less practical for us to manage the core network infrastructure ourselves," said Gary Greenfield, chief executive officer of GXS. "We turned to Verizon Business to gain scalable, secure and highly available network services to support our global B2B network and on-demand services. By doing so, we can focus on increasing the features and functionality of GXS Trading Grid and giving our customers the ability to achieve true B2B integration with global trading partners."
GXS Trading Grid is a global B2B e-commerce and integration services platform that supports the creation and adoption of on-demand supply-chain management solutions for companies of any size. GXS Trading Grid also enables customers to closely monitor global supply-chain activities and logistics operations.
Verizon Business is now working with GXS to support its innovative Web-based trading partner management console and its on-demand messaging services. Professional services from Verizon Business also will assist GXS in meeting its enterprise customer needs for integrating multiprotocol enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
"Our relationship is designed to keep the wheels of the on-demand services on GXS Trading Grid turning so GXS can remain focused on expanding and strengthening its portfolio of on-demand B2B integration solutions," said Nancy Gofus, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Verizon Business. "This deal is significant proof of our global expertise and ability to serve as a vital technology resource that helps companies such as GXS accelerate core business strategies."
Verizon Business is providing GXS with managed and professional voice and data services that include MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Internet protocol (IP) services such as packet filtering, data center management support, application hosting and acceleration, virtual private network (VPN) connectivity, firewall and other security services, management of customer premises communications equipment, voice conferencing and standards compliance.
The deal also includes Verizon Business' world-class service level agreements (SLAs) for a highly available network and robust performance across GXS Trading Grid. GXS, in turn, leverages Verizon Business' SLAs to provide its customers with robust service level commitments.
