IDC MarketScape Once Again Recognizes Verizon as a Leader in the Asia-Pacific Telecommunications Market

IDC has once again named Verizon as a leading player in the Asia-Pacific next-generation telecom services market, in the analyst firm's annual report on the region.

In its report, "IDC MarketScape: Asia/Pacific Next Generation Telecom Services 2011 Vendor Analysis,"¹ IDC attributes Verizon's leadership position to the company's continued upgrading of its global network, investments in its data centers and security capabilities, plus ongoing efforts to enhance the overall customer experience.

The IDC MarketScape assesses the capabilities and strategies of 11 key telecom service providers in the Asia-Pacific region, based on a comprehensive framework and a set of parameters that are expected to be most conducive for the success in delivering information and communications technology services to enterprises in the near and long term.

IDC defines "next-generation telecom services" to include international IP VPN and Ethernet services, managed services (including cloud services), and professional IT services (excluding support services) that are offered in the Asia-Pacific region. Vendors are evaluated based on their capabilities within the enterprise segment in the region.

Andrew Dobbins, Verizon's vice president, Asia-Pacific, said: "We continue to break new ground in Asia, and this accolade further validates our continued investments to support our market vision. Everything we do is designed to strengthen our overall customer experience, and by integrating cloud, managed and professional services into our overall solution mix, we are increasingly enabling our customers to transform their business, in support of their business goals."

Verizon is a global leader in driving better business outcomes for enterprises and government agencies. Verizon delivers integrated IT and communications solutions via its high-IQ global IP and mobility networks to enable businesses to securely access information, share content and communicate. Verizon is rapidly transforming to a cloud-based "everything-as-a-service" delivery model that will put the power of enterprise-class solutions within the reach of every business.
