Bell Atlantic Announces Implementation in Four Additional Hotels
BETHESDA, MD. - InfoTravel®, Bell Atlantic's interactive, electronic travel guide service for hotel guests, soon will be available to guests of four more Marriott hotels in Northern Virginia. Beginning this summer, guests staying at Marriott's Alexandria Courtyard, Rosslyn Courtyard, Residence Inn at Pentagon City and the Crystal City Marriott can use InfoTravel to select a restaurant, check out the sights and find a place to shop.
InfoTravel is already available in nine hotels -- including five Marriott, two Hilton and two Holiday Inns in Washington, D.C., Northern Va., and Bethesda, Md. Guests use the TV and remote control in their room to interact with more than 100 advertisers, 35 local points of interest, transportation options and hotel services. lt is advertiser supported and is free to the user and the hotel.
Courtyard by Marriott hotels offer mid-priced accommodations primarily for the business traveler and Residence Inns cater to the extended stay guest. "Our experience with InfoTravel has been very positive in our full-service properties based in Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia," said Jim Ceh, senior project manager for rooms operations at Marriott. "InfoTravel will provide an important new service in our Courtyard and Residence Inn hotels where the front desk personnel typically handle all guest inquiries. InfoTravel provides our guests with accurat and timely visitor information. It's like adding a personal concierge in each room."

InfoTravel's directory menu includes Places To Eat, Things to See and Do, Services & Getting Around, Nightlife and Shopping. Hotel guests can use the service to call advertisers, print maps and coupons and obtain community and theater information through new features like the Sports and Entertainment Calendar of Events. InfoTravel operates in conjunction with. On Command Video Corporation's in-room TV services and uses Compact Disc-interactive (CD-i) technology developed by Philips Media Inc. and Bell Atlantic.
InfoTravel has been available to guests of the Washington, D.C.-based J.W. Marriott, Washington Marriott, Marriott at Metro Center, The Capital Hilton, and Washington Hilton and Towers, plus the Key Bridge Marriott and Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va., since June 1995. The Bethesda Holiday Inn and Old Town, Alexandria, Va., Holiday Inn began offering the service in January 1996.
