John Stratton Named Verizon Wireless Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer

Verizon Wireless today named John Stratton to the newly created post of vice-president and chief marketing officer responsible for the company's marketing, advertising, product pricing, e-commerce and distribution strategies. Previously, he served as president of the company's Northwest Area responsible for operations in the Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis and Kansas/Missouri regions.
Stratton brings extensive wireless experience to the position having served as regional vice president-retail sales and operations for Bell Atlantic Mobile's New York/New Jersey metro region; president of Bell Atlantic Mobile's Philadelphia region; and vice president - marketing for Bell Atlantic Mobile.
"John has a broad background in the wireless industry that gives him a thorough understanding of every aspect of our business from product development to sales," said Lowell McAdam, Verizon Wireless chief operating officer. "His knowledge and expertise will serve as the driving force behind our continued effort to provide customers with wireless service that is simple, affordable and national."
Stratton joined Bell Atlantic Mobile in 1993, after serving as vice president of merchandising for Jersey Camera, a regional camera and electronics retail chain, where he oversaw purchasing and marketing. Prior to that, he held various management positions within major consumer electronics retailers.
