Lebanon High School In Tennessee Receives The Gift Of Sound
Verizon Wireless Donation Used to Install New Sound System in School's Auditorium
April 4, 2002
Lebanon High School (LHS), in the midst of a fundraising campaign for new and updated equipment for the school, marked the installation of a new sound system in the school auditorium with a check presentation today.
Verizon Wireless donated $15,000 to the school for the new sound system in conjunction with the school's fundraising efforts.
"This is the type of donation that is vital to our efforts to provide our students with the best learning tools possible," said Terry Edwards, head of the drama department and newspaper journalism instructor at LHS. "Verizon Wireless really stepped forward with this donation and continues to be a great community supporter."
There are approximately 300 students in LHS's drama and music departments. The new sound equipment has already had a dramatic effect on a recent school production.
"We unveiled the new system with a musical concert on March 8. The feedback we received was incredibly positive," said Edwards. "Our students, parents and faculty can hear, enjoy and appreciate the musical performances in the auditorium even more now. It's something the school and Verizon Wireless can be very proud of."
The school is hopeful that the Verizon Wireless donation will inspire other local companies and individuals to make contributions to the school. The drama department has several renovation projects in need of funding.
