New Release of FieldCentrix Enterprise Software Offers Satellite and Cell Phone Wireless Communications Support
June 1, 2001
FieldCentrix®, the largest, most experienced provider of Internet-based field service automation software announced the release of version 2.6 of FieldCentrix® Enterprise. Supporting Wireless Matrix (formerly Norcom Networks) satellite communications and the Verizon Wireless CDMA Digital Wireless Network, FieldCentrix now provides more wireless data communications options than any other field service automation software company.
The value of a wireless field service system can only be realized when data is sent and received by the mobile worker," said Judy Johnson, senior vice president of marketing for FieldCentrix. "FieldCentrix gives our customers choices - wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), dial up, and now satellite and CDMA wireless phones."
Version 2.6 supports wireless, satellite communications between FX Mobile®, FieldCentrix's wireless-based mobile workflow software, and FX Service Center®, the company's Web-based dispatch software.
"Wireless Matrix satellite communications provides coverage anywhere in North America," said Johnson. "It is an ideal solution for field technicians who are out of traditional wireless communications coverage for a majority of their day."
In addition, technicians can now connect their handheld computers to Verizon Wireless data capable CDMA phones to receive work orders, messages, and to send information. Qualified phones are the Motorola StarTAC and Kyocera 2035a.
"We are proud to be the first wireless carrier to successfully support the FieldCentrix solution nationwide on a CDMA wireless phone," said Jim Straight, Vice-President of the Wireless Internet and Data Division at Verizon Wireless. "FieldCentrix, a leading wireless, Internet-based field force automation software provider, and Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless carrier are in a great position to offer customers a solution tailored to their needs."
Other Version 2.6 Highlights
Version 2.6 offers significantly improved system performance. For example, downloading and displaying 250 pieces of equipment now takes two seconds versus two minutes. Such equipment lists assist technicians in troubleshooting service problems.
Version 2.6 also offers enhanced equipment catalogs and provides a new function that automatically emails work order summaries to customers. Industry-specific catalogs are pre-loaded with hundreds of equipment makes and models, and standard service and preventive maintenance readings, tasks, and diagnostics for each piece of equipment. Using FieldCentrix's equipment catalogs, a field technician selects a piece of equipment, and a checklist showing the most common problems for that unit is automatically generated. This helps field technicians solve problems quicker, and allows companies to deliver a greater level of service to their customers.
The automatic emailing of work order summaries makes it fast and easy to provide customers with needed information. The field technician simply presses a button and the information is emailed to the appropriate customer contacts.
Version 2.6 also provides an effective way to distribute important and timely safety bulletins. With the touch of a button, the latest precautions and hazards are sent electronically to all technicians. The software alerts them immediately to the information and prompts them for an electronic signature to verify that they received and read the information. The signature is automatically sent back and stored at the office. Ensuring technicians receive and read these bulletins keeps employees informed and safe.
