PC, TV and Wireless Phone: Free Upgrade for Verizon Media Manager Service Puts Digital Entertainment Wherever You Are

Verizon's innovative Media Manager service just got better with a free software upgrade. It gives FiOS TV DVR users even more ways to easily enjoy personal photos, music and videos whenever they want - on whatever device they want - including their PCs, FiOS TV screens and Verizon Wireless V CAST phones.

Media Manager, available to all FiOS TV DVR customers, already lets users wirelessly stream personal photos, music and videos from their computer to their TV screens, plus search and enjoy online videos from blip.tv, Dailymotion and Veoh on their TV set.  It also provides a rich interface that lets customers store, organize, access and manipulate their digital media on their home computers or laptops.

The free software upgrade, which Verizon is introducing Wednesday (Dec. 16), gives Media Manager users exciting new capabilities, including transferring music from their PC to any Verizon Wireless V CAST phone, and transferring photos, music and videos from any removable mass-storage device to the Media Manager interface on customers' PCs.  Users also can now use Media Manger service to edit photos on their PCs.

"We're continually enriching Media Manager so it can be the go-to multimedia hub of our FiOS customers' homes," said Shawn Strickland, vice president of consumer strategy for Verizon.  "Media Manager gives our subscribers a great way to organize, access and edit their digital entertainment and then bounce that media to other screens, both at home and on the go.  It's advanced technology made simple and another way Verizon takes digital entertainment where cable can't."

Details on Free New Features

New features made possible by Verizon's free upgrade to Media Manager include:

  • Integration with V CAST: Customers who want to take their PC music playlists on the go now can transfer music from the computer to a V CAST-supported Verizon Wireless handset by simply right clicking on the song and selecting "Save to device."

  • New PC to TV capabilities: Customers now can connect any portable media player in Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) mode to their PC and use the Media Manager interface to send digital music from the PC to their home entertainment system.

  • Bi-directional transfer: Media Manager now allows customers to download and upload digital media back and forth between their computer and any removable mass-storage device (MSD), such as a flash drive.  This latest feature makes exporting and importing music, photos and videos easier.  Customers can also stream media from the MSD to their television set via Media Manager.

  • Photo editing: Customers can now edit photos via the Media Manager interface.  They can sharpen an image, turn it into a black and white photo and even tag photos, with just a few clicks of the mouse.  Customers can also choose to undo the most recent edit, save changes or reset to the original photo.

To start enjoying Media Manager, FiOS TV DVR users simply visit http://www.verizon.com/MediaManager to download and install free Media Manager software on their PC or MAC.  Users then access the service by selecting the "Media Manager" option on the FiOS TV Interactive Media Guide menu.  Subscribers already using Media Manager don't have to do anything to receive the free software update, which will be automatically added to their service by Verizon.

Media Manager for PC includes Video Manager, Photo Manager and Music Manager features that help customers organize, manage and enjoy multimedia both on the PC and on TV.  The service includes a library of all personal videos, internet videos from select websites, photos and music stored on a PC.
