Rockland County, New York Resident Wins Honors From Verizon Wireless
February 11, 2003
ORANGEBURG, NY
Rockland County resident Annette Lowther, associate director of Human Resources for Verizon Wireless, has received the company's President's Award for Excellence, which recognizes employees for exceptional teamwork, leadership and outstanding customer service.
Lowther was honored for her role in hiring and training new employees to keep pace with Verizon Wireless' continuing growth, and for planning and implementing employee team-building events throughout the New York Metro area. She also developed and teaches the company's HopeLineSM "Invest In Yourself" program, a series of seminars designed to help domestic violence survivors develop skills they need to compete for jobs in today's marketplace and help them rebuild their lives. The program now serves as a model for similar Verizon Wireless efforts nationwide.
"Invest In Yourself" seminars focus on employment topics, such as interviewing, communications, networking and preparing effective resumes. During the past year, Lowther presented two "Invest In Yourself" programs at the Rockland Family Shelter, in addition to locations in northern New Jersey. Domestic violence prevention and education is Verizon Wireless' chief community focus.
Lowther was one of five Verizon Wireless employees to receive the President's Award for Excellence.
