TELE-TV MEDIA SETS CREATIVE PRODUCTION
AND TECHNOLOGICAL INTEGRATION PERSONNEL
Kit Laybourne to Become Senior Vice President Creative Production
George Escobar to Vice President, Product Technologies and
Marshall to Vice President, Technology Strategy
George Escobar to Vice President, Product Technologies and
LOS ANGELES -- TELE-TV Media today announced the
appointments of Kit
Laybourne to senior vice president, creative production; George
Escobar to vice president, product technologies; and Marsh Marshall to
vice president, technology strategy.
The three will match TELE-TV Media's creative production and
interactive services strategies with the technological capacity of
each of TELE-TV's means of distribution: digital television, the
Internet and interactive television.
Mr. Laybourne, 53, will report to Japhet Asher, executive vice
president of programming and product development. He will supervise
TELE-TV's Digital Production Studio in Reston, Virginia, as well as
developers based in Los Angeles. He will act as TELE-TV Media's point
person in the assembly, development and supervision of all internal
and external creative production personnel.
"We intend to create a laboratory environment in which to develop
programming and services of the future, but our work will always be
forged in the fires of the marketplace," Mr. Asher said.
"We will create an inhouse creative resource and also build
relationships with outside vendors, suppliers and other creators to
deliver product across all platforms. You need a strong mixture of
experience and freshness in assembling a truly vibrant group," he
Formerly president and chief executive officer for New York-based
independent producer Noyes & Laybourne, Mr. Laybourne was executive
producer on MTV's critically-acclaimed Liquid Television , as well as
Nickelodeon's Gullah Gullah Island and Eureeka's Castle.
He taught New York University's Tisch School of Arts' advanced
animation seminar, and is the author of leading animation textbook,
"The Animation Book." He produced Nickelodeon's "Nick at
graphics during that service's launch, and will likewise oversee
production of TELE-TV interstitial, branding elements and shortform
"The initial challenge for me personally is to attract world class
digital artists with whom we might best populate our bi-coastal teams.
We then hope to explore the largely uncharted creative domains within
interactive television," Mr. Laybourne said.
Mr. Escobar will also report to Mr. Asher, while also remaining a
member of the TELE-TV Technology Strategy group. Mr. Marshall, who
heads the Technology Strategy Group, will report to Mindy Herman,
Senior Vice President of Business Operations.
Messrs. Escobar and Marshall will use their combined technological and
production expertise to act as a critical liaison between TELE-TV
creative product and technological systems personnel, as well as third
party creators and technologists developing new TELE-TV content.
"This process tends to be very circular, in that sometimes
leads you to create a specific product and other times, the product
leads you to create a new technology," Mr. Escobar said. "We

as the interpreter for both."
Mr. Escobar, 35, is responsible for identifying and defining the
technological parameters and creative potential of each of the TELE-TV
distribution platforms, as well as other emerging technologies. He
will integrate creative product strategies with technological service
support, while also developing multimedia authoring tools and user
Mr. Marshall, 42, is charged with assessing TELE-TV Media
technological strategies as they relate to creative product
development and the consumer experience. Working with TELE-TV Systems,
he will recommend and implement partnerships and alliances with
outside technology firms as they pertain to TELE-TV Media creative and
business projects including an electronic program guide.
"The consumer promise of digital and interactive television is only
strong as our ability to harness the latest technologies to service
that need," Mr. Marshall said. "Technological superiority in
service of creativity will prove an integral differentiator for that

relocate from Reston to Los Angeles.
Prior to joining TELE-TV Media last year, Mr. Escobar was a director
at the Digital Production Studio for Bell Atlantic Video Services. He
designed and produced Bell Atlantic's Stargazer video-on-demand
application software, Bell Atlantic's Internet site, and also worked
with major outside clients to integrate CD-ROM and interactive

EON Corp., and worked in several creative and production roles on
network series The Love Boat, Dynasty, Square Pegs and Hotel. He is a
graduate of the American Film Institute's Center for Advanced Film and

Atlantic Video Services, where he designed and produced the Stargazer
navigator and other interactive television applications. He also
supervised design and production operations for interactive television
and online activity for Bell Atlantic Video Services.
Before that, he was a producer and director for the British
Broadcasting Corp. with creative credits including The Moneylenders,
War with America and Czech Mate, nominated by the BBC for a British
