Terion Extends Contract with Verizon Wireless To 2005; Continues to Provide Reliable and Cost Effective FleetView Monitoring Service
September 26, 2002
Terion, a leading provider of asset-monitoring systems, today announced that it has extended its existing contract for wireless communications supporting its FleetViewTM trailer monitoring system with Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless service provider, until 2005.
Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless network in the country, gives FleetView customers the broadest geographic coverage, superior call quality and data capacity to obtain critical fleet management information in a timely manner. Extending the contract ensures that existing and future FleetView customers will continue to receive highly effective service in an uncertain wireless service environment.
"Verizon Wireless enables Terion to provide reliable and cost effective asset monitoring services to meet the demands of the marketplace," said Ken Cranston, president and CEO of Terion. "Our FleetView product provides our customers the information they need to drive inefficiencies out of their business and Verizon Wireless is the best available backbone to communicate that information."
"This agreement formalizes our mutual commitment to maintaining high quality service and top network performance and acknowledges a successful working relationship," said Mark Thompson, senior account manager for Verizon Wireless. "We are pleased to continue our relationship with Terion, and we look forward to working with them to develop innovative wireless data solutions."
Ed Mushill, Terion's director of sales and marketing said, "Terion is committed to sourcing proven, reliable and cost-effective advancements. Our policy is to make sure we do everything possible to give our customers the best service options. A comprehensive wireless service is an important part of that service."
FleetView supplies fleet management information through the Internet from its patented innovative hardware and software design. The design integrates GPS and cellular technology for comprehensive coverage throughout the United States and Canada. The system is concealed to provide a covert installation. It communicates real-time trailer location and event status when the trailer is tethered to or untethered from a tractor, including an accurate determination of loading and unloading events with FleetView's Cargo Sensor. The system uniquely supports over-the-air software downloads for device settings and software upgrades. Terion's FleetView operates in a standard browser environment on standard PC hardware. With approximately 50,000 units in the field, FleetView is the leading untethered trailer-tracking product in the North American market.
