Gartner considered a number of criteria in assessing companies for inclusion in the Magic Quadrant. Overall, Gartner analysts evaluated providers on the quality and efficacy of the processes, systems, methods or procedures that support their overall performance and enable them to capitalize on their vision, as well as their understanding of how to maximize the potential of market forces. In terms of completeness of vision, Gartner looked at market understanding, business model, product, sales and marketing strategies, innovation and geographic reach. With regard to ability to execute, overall viability, market responsiveness and track record, operations and the customer experience were all taken into consideration, as well as pricing and product and service offerings.
John Irvine, Verizon Business vice president, international marketing, said: “We believe our positioning in the Leaders quadrant of this latest Gartner Magic Quadrant reinforces the strength of our global managed and professional networking services product portfolio. A key focus for us in 2006 has been to ensure a high-quality global customer experience, whether in terms of network breadth, product and service availability, or indeed customer-first service delivery. According to Gartner, the network service provider market has turned a corner in terms of stability and growth prospects, and service provider models are beginning to become more focused and differentiated. Verizon Business was also recognized by Gartner in the Leaders’ Quadrants for U.S. Managed and Professional Network Service Providers in July 2006 and for U.S. Network Service Providers in May 2006.
