BASKING RIDGE, N.J. - Verizon Business today announced that it has passed the SAS 70 Type II examination for its Remote Application Management (RAM) Operations Centers.  Through these centers, the company monitors and manages critical and often far-flung customer applications and communications infrastructures.

Third-party auditor Moss Adams performed the examination, closely reviewing and testing the control environment and corresponding internal controls for the managed services provided by Verizon Business.  Specifically, Moss Adams examined control objectives in the areas of organizational structure, governance and administration; physical and environmental controls; logical access controls; and system availability and performance.

"We're all about helping our customers deliver on their IT objectives, and completing this examination demonstrates that our efforts are backed by internal controls that meet high standards," said Michael Marcellin, vice president of product marketing for Verizon Business.  "Our embrace of strong internal controls and world-class services enables us to provide our enterprise customers with the reliability, efficiency and security that they need to meet their own IT mandates."

Verizon Business RAM monitoring and management services are designed to keep business-critical applications and infrastructure functional, responsive and secure.  Customers can rely on a Site Operations Center that operates round-the clock, 365 days a year - and is staffed with experienced engineers, advanced operations platform technology and robust standards-based processes - to manage customers' infrastructure and applications.  Outsourcing IT responsibilities to Verizon Business enables customers to benefit from high availability and exceptional performance, and to control costs and reduce risks.

Established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, SAS 70 is the authoritative guidance that enables service organizations such as Verizon Business to disclose their control activities and processes to their customers and their customers' auditors in a uniform reporting format.  A SAS 70 examination demonstrates that an independent accounting and auditing firm has reviewed and examined an organization's control objectives and activities.  At the conclusion of a SAS 70 examination, a formal report, including the auditor's opinion, is issued to the organization.

Outsourcing applications, infrastructures and server operating systems to Verizon Business provides customers with a cost-effective solution with competitive service level agreements and high levels of security, scalability and performance.  More information is available by visiting http://www.verizonbusiness.com/us/itsolutions/remote/index.xml.
