Verizon FiOS Internet Makes Top Five in PC World's '100 Best Products of 2007' Awards
NEW YORK - Verizon FiOS Internet - the only broadband service delivered directly to customers' homes over the nation's most advanced, all-fiber network -- has been named a winner of PC World Magazine's 100 Best Products of 2007 Awards. The only Internet service to make the prestigious list, Verizon FiOS Internet was ranked fourth in the magazine's roster of what it calls "the finest products and services of the past 12 months," which were selected "based on exemplary design, features, performance and innovation."
John Wimsatt, senior vice president for Verizon Telecom marketing, said, "This award reflects what our FiOS Internet customers tell us every day - that FiOS provides faster speed, better reliability, more advanced services and superior entertainment and online experiences. From e-mail to online video, gaming to world news, photo sharing to live sports - its all better on our network."
In selecting FiOS Internet as a top-five tech product of 2007, PC World cited the service for high customer satisfaction, noting, "Supplying enough bandwidth to offer IPTV plus Internet access at up to 30 megabits per second, fiber is the way of the future. As of this writing, FiOS users on BroadbandReports.com gave the service an 84 percent satisfaction rating."
Verizon is the only major telecom company building fiber all the way to customers' homes on a mass scale. The company is the first and only major communications and entertainment provider to be certified by the independent Fiber to the Home Council as providing customers with 100 percent fiber-optic service. Studies show that homeowners recognize that an all-fiber connection can increase the market value of their homes. For example, an independent survey of owners of homes with fiber connections, recently conducted by RVA Render, Vanderslice & Associates, shows that the owners estimate their homes are worth an average of $4,318 more when served by fiber optics all the way to the home.
Verizon provides FiOS Internet service to consumers in parts of 16 states, with download speeds ranging from 5 to 50 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps. For more information about FiOS Internet, visit www.verizon.com/fios.
