NEW YORK - Verizon Communications announced today that its industry-leading LiveSource business unit will provide directory assistance services to Alltel Communications.

The multi-year agreement provides for the most advanced information services for wireless customers, including movie and restaurant listings, weather forecasts, sports updates, horoscopes and business category searches. Wireline customers will get Verizon's full array of directory assistance features, including customer name and address lookups, national directory assistance and call completion.

Under the agreement, wireline and wireless service for Alltel's customers will begin this summer.

Verizon now supports more than 40 percent of the U.S. wireless market with directory assistance services and is the largest operator-services supplier in the country.

Currently, Verizon offers Spanish-speaking operators, customized branding, call completion, reverse directory lookups, category searches and international lookups (including Canada and Puerto Rico).
