FALLS CHURCH, Va. - Verizon Virginia has appointed Douglas E. Brammer the company's area manager for northern Virginia. Brammer replaces Harry N. Doyle Jr., who retired last November.

In his new position, Brammer will manage Verizon's public policy programs throughout an area ranging from Arlington to Frederick counties in the north and from King George to Rockingham counties in the south.

Brammer has held a variety of positions at Verizon since 1982 in sales, marketing, strategic planning and, most recently, as group marketing manager for Verizon Information Services. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts from Lynchburg College and a Master of Arts degree in marketing from the University of Maryland.

Brammer and his wife, Elise, live in Fairfax with their two children. He is based in Falls Church.
