In response to the growing demand for Verizon's voice, data and television products and services, the company will open a retail store in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn at 3010 Avenue H.
A grand-opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Saturday (Sept. 12) at 11 a.m., with festivities lasting through the afternoon.
Verizon store employees will be on hand all day to answer customers' questions, take orders for FiOS services, and provide one-on-one product demonstrations.
During the day, the store will host a live steel band at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and the Gospel Community Choir of Brooklyn will perform at noon. In addition, the store staff will hold separate raffles for a $100 Target gift card, a GPS unit, an iPod and a 19-inch HD television set.
Located in a heavily trafficked shopping area just off of Flatbush Avenue in a section called the Junction, the Verizon store serves Verizon customers and showcases the company's products and services, including its revolutionary new FiOS TV and Internet services.
Inside the store, Verizon has created a family-room setting, where shoppers can try out FiOS Internet, FiOS TV and FiOS TV's innovative DVR products. Shoppers can also order all other Verizon services right at the store.
The new Verizon retail location will also serve as a customer service center where customers can pick up or exchange FiOS TV set-top boxes and remote controls. In addition, they can pay their Verizon bills via cash, check, credit or debit, or consult with representatives about their services.
The store will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store's phone number is 888-526-9222.
"By opening our new store, we are getting closer to our customers and the residents of the communities we serve," said Richard Windram, Verizon's director of government and external affairs for New York City. "Our customers will appreciate the convenience of a nearby location where they can conduct business, and potential customers will have an easy and fun way to see for themselves how different and game-changing FiOS really is."
Verizon has franchise agreements to provide television service in more than 160 communities across New York state.
