DALLAS -- Penelope Peetnik has always been a whiz at solving mysteries, and now she's just as good in Spanish. With SuperPages.com's new Spanish-language version of the popular Peetnik mystery series on EnlightenMe.com, children can practice deductive-reasoning and problem-solving skills in either English or Spanish - and so can their parents, caregivers and educators.
"Verizon is one of the top employers for Hispanics, so we know how important it is for Spanish-speaking parents to understand what their kids are learning on the computer," said Lou Laste, director of community affairs for Verizon SuperPages. "By translating the Peetnik Mysteries into Spanish, we give kids the choice and ability to use either language. But, more importantly, we give parents and teachers the ability to understand and use this tool that their kids are using."
The Enlighten Me village features a variety of areas that promote learning in the classroom and at home. Children can use Enlighten Me to send e-cards to their friends, family and teachers, or solve a mind-challenging Peetnik Mystery while exercising logic, problem solving, critical thinking, cooperation, imagination and creativity, while having fun on SuperThinkers.
Parents can get tips for incorporating literacy and technology into family life, expert recommendations for children's books, information about nationwide literacy programs and interactive Internet Learning instructions.
SuperThinkers also provides resources for teachers to incorporate literacy and technology into their curricula. All activities relate to local and national curriculum standards and are grounded in holistic, child-centered educational philosophy.
