Verizon Wireless and the U.S. Marine Corps today announced the wireless carrier will be collecting toys at its 11 Buffalo-area retail locations for the Marine Corps' 2001 Toys for Tots campaign Toys for Tots collects new toys for needy kids in our area every holiday season.
Verizon Wireless asks its customers and all Buffalo-area holiday shoppers to bring a new, unwrapped toy into any Verizon Wireless retail location between December 6 and December 21. The toys will be collected by the Marines and distributed to needy children in the Buffalo area.
"This holiday season, perhaps more than any other in recent memory, underscores the need for members of our communities to help each other whenever we can," said John Palmer, president of Verizon Wireless' Upstate New York Region. "The Marine Corps' Toys for Tots campaign will give us all the opportunity to make the holiday season a little brighter for some of our less fortunate neighbors and their children."
Toys for Tots is the Marine Corps' premier community action program, one of the nation's flagship charitable endeavors, an American tradition and a national treasure. For more than 51 years, Marines have been the unchallenged leaders in looking after needy children during the holidays.
Everyone who donates a toy at a Verizon Wireless communications store will receive a $20 coupon to be applied towards the purchase of a Verizon Wireless hands free combo pack, which includes a headset and a cigarette lighter adapter. Coupons are redeemable at any Verizon Wireless communications store.
