BEDMINSTER, NJ - It's big, bold and in vivid color. With Verizon Wireless'
Get It NowSM service and a new color Get It
Now wireless handset, consumers nationwide can download a variety of games, entertainment
and productivity applications over the air onto their phone. Customers can Get
Games to stay entertained when waiting in line, personalize their take-everywhere
accessory when they Get Tones, and find their way more efficiently when they Get
Going.
Downloadable applications for Get It Now are available under the categories
of Get Games, Get Tones, Get Going, Get Pix, Get Fun and Get Mail.
Game addicts and sports enthusiasts can Get Games - baseball, bowling, golf
and more - whenever the urge for a challenge strikes. Get Games offers Verizon
Wireless customers popular games, such as Yahtzee® by HasbroTM
and Solitaire by JAMDATTM. There are dozens
of games available to play today, and Verizon Wireless will regularly roll out
new applications that can be downloaded over the air onto Get It Now handsets.
Get Going applications are essential for today's mobile lifestyle. Customers
can get real-time airport status and flight information, create an expense report
and submit it before boarding the plane or locate a restaurant or store on a
map when visiting a new city. They can also stay in touch with family and friends
because Get Pix lets them view and share digital photos and images on their
wireless phone.
Get It Now also offers consumers the latest in phone personalization with
Get Tones. Users can get cool ring tones covering their favorite songs, popular
movie and TV show themes, and holiday standards. With so many options, customers
can truly customize their phones so that a love song plays when their significant
other calls, a blues song plays when it's the boss calling and a party song
rings when friends call.
The
premiere Get It Now phone, the Motorola T720, runs Get It Now downloads over
Verizon Wireless' CDMA digital network. It also features the latest in wireless
technology and is compatible with the Verizon Wireless high-speed Express NetworkSM.
With the Express Network, Verizon Wireless customers can wirelessly connect
to the Internet to Get Access - stay in touch with e-mail and stay on top of
the latest news and information from the Internet - at speeds similar to or
better than those users experience when dialing in from their home PC.
The Motorola T720 offers Get It Now compatibility with a color display, interchangeable
front and rear covers and is GPS-enabled for E911 emergency services (where
available). The Motorola T720 has a suggested retail price of $299.99 when customers
sign up for a two-year service agreement with Verizon Wireless or $199.99 after
a mail-in rebate (when customers sign a service agreement and mail in their
old wireless phone with the rebate form).
Verizon Wireless is the first and only wireless service provider in the U.S.
to offer a service like Get It Now, which downloads software applications over
the air using BREWTM technology from QUALCOMM.
The company initially launched downloadable applications commercially on March
18, 2002 in San Diego and nationwide on June 17, 2002.
Verizon Wireless customers with a Get It Now-capable phone can purchase applications
by selecting the Get It Now shopping cart icon right on their phone. Customers
can demo applications and select from a variety of license pricing options.
For example, 99 cents for three uses, or $1.99 for a monthly subscription, can
provide unlimited use for the duration of the subscription.
Airtime charges accrue during the selection and download process, which depending
on the application size, may take seconds or a few minutes. Once downloaded,
applications that do not require a wireless connection can be accessed anytime
without incurring airtime charges. Purchased applications will appear on the
customer's monthly Verizon Wireless service bill.
In the next several weeks, Verizon Wireless will offer additional Get It Now-enabled
phones. In addition to the Motorola T720, Get It Now can currently be accessed
on the Verizon Wireless Z-800 with full color display ($199.99 with a two-year
service agreement) and the Kyocera 3035e ($49.99 with a two-year service agreement
with a $50 mail-in rebate). Customers can purchase Get It Now-capable phones
at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores throughout the country, at participating
RadioShack locations, or online at www.VerizonWireless.com.
