Verizon Wireless Expands Retail Operations In Plano

Verizon Wireless is opening its first full store in Plano. Verizon Wireless' newest store, located in Polo Towne Crossing at 2208 Dallas Parkway north of W. Park
Blvd., is in response to the continued demand for digital wireless communications in North Texas.
The Plano store is the 15th Verizon Wireless retail outlet in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Verizon Wireless also operates a kiosk in Collin Creek Mall.
"Verizon is excited about our latest location," said Jeanne Mathews, Dallas/Fort Worth Director
of Marketing for Verizon Wireless. "Plano is one of the fastest growing areas in Dallas/Fort
Worth, and we are committed to our locations being convenient for our customers and their hectic
lives."
"The Plano store is a state-of-the-art location," said Mathews, "and I am pleased that our
customers now have an easy to reach location in Plano to initiate service."
A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 5:15 p.m., June 15. Plano Chamber of Commerce
ambassadors will be in attendance.
Verizon Wireless' South Central Area Headquarters is located in Westlake and has 200 employees.
Verizon Wireless is the largest wireless communications provider in the U.S. with more than 23
million wireless voice and data customers and nearly 4 million paging customers. The new
coast-to-coast provider was formed by the combination of the U.S. wireless businesses of Bell
Atlantic Corp. and Vodafone AirTouch Plc. The new company includes the assets from Bell Atlantic
Mobile, AirTouch Cellular, PrimeCo Personal Communications and AirTouch Paging.
Verizon Wireless will be further strengthened by the addition of the U.S. wireless assets of GTE
Corp. when it completes its merger with Bell Atlantic. When the merger is complete, the new
company will have a service footprint covering nearly 90 percent of the U.S. population, 49 of
the top 50 and 96 of the top 100 U.S. markets.
Verizon Wireless, headquartered in New York City and Bedminster, NJ, is 30,000 employees strong.
