Verizon Wireless Expands Service Coverage in Brooklyn
November 9, 2001
NEW YORK, NY
Verizon Wireless has expanded service coverage in Brooklyn with a new cell site in Greenpoint and one in Dyker Heights.
"The new cell sites will provide customers who live in and travel through these areas with greater wireless network coverage and increased clarity when making wireless calls," said Heidi Hemmer, Verizon Wireless Director of Engineering in metropolitan New York.
The site in Greenpoint improves service on Norman Road, Nassau Road, Driggs Road, McGuinness Road and part of Route 278.
The Dyker Heights site enhances wireless calling on 14th Avenue, from 78th to 86th Streets and at Dyker Beach Park and Golf Course.
The new sites are part of a $4 billion investment program this year to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless nationwide network. More than $300 million of that investment is being used to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the New York Metro area.
