Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider, has expanded service coverage in Suffolk County with a new cell site in Point Lookout.
"The new cell site will provide customers who live in and travel through the area with greater wireless network coverage and increased clarity when making wireless calls," said Heidi Hemmer, Verizon Wireless Director of Engineering in metropolitan New York.
The site improves service on sections of the Meadowbrook Parkway, Lido Boulevard, Bay Parkway and West End Beach Road.
The new site is part of a $4 billion investment program in 2001to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless nationwide network, the largest in the U.S. More than $300 million of that investment was used to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the New York Metro area.
