Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless carrier in the U.S., today unveiled plans to further enhance its Wyoming network in a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for customers in the state. The company will invest more than $4 million in its statewide network this year, more than double what it spent in 2000 and part of the more than $4 billion planned for nationwide network investment in 2001. This capital investment will increase capacity for wireless voice and expand the availability of data services to meet the growing needs of wireless users.
"Today, more Wyoming residents rely on Verizon Wireless for their wireless communication needs than on any other company," said Mountain Region President, Marni Walden. "We've earned a reputation in the state for providing exceptional service to our customers. The foundation for that reputation is our network and our continuing investment in network excellence."
The $4 million investment this year has brought the advantages of digital service to customers in Cheyenne, Laramie and Casper.
"Our commitment to our customers in Wyoming to provide the best service possible is stronger than ever," said Walden. "We've seen explosive growth in usage in the state due to the coal-bed-methane mining industry and have accelerated our expansion plans to accommodate that demand."
With the introduction of digital service, Wyoming customers will now have access to advanced services such as Mobile Web, Mobile MessengerSM, and Mobile Office that offer them a convenient and customized Internet-based experience. Verizon Wireless has more than 28 million U.S. wireless customers, largest digital customer base in U.S., and is the leader in wireless data with almost one million customers on wireless Web and packet services.
