April 17, 2002
Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless communications provider, will mark the opening of its new retail store location in Decatur with a store celebration April 21-27.
"When we open our doors in Decatur, our customers will see the latest wireless products and services surrounded by a spacious, customer-friendly floor plan," said James Davis, Verizon Wireless district manager, retail, for North Alabama. "Decatur is a growing market, and the new store helps us better serve the entire area."
The new Verizon Wireless store is located at 303-G Beltline Place, in Decatur. The store, formerly an Alabama One location, represents the completed transition of Verizon Wireless' acquisition of Alabama One earlier this year.
Opening celebrations will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The public is invited to tour the new store, view product demonstrations and participate in prize giveaways and other activities.
In conjunction with the store opening, Verizon Wireless will donate $500 to Hope Place, a shelter program for victims of domestic violence in Northern Alabama.
"Verizon Wireless is committed to domestic violence awareness, and we are pleased to lend our support to Hope Place and other local domestic violence prevention programs," said Davis. "These programs provide a much needed service to the community, and we are pleased to continue our relationship with Hope Place."
The new Verizon Wireless communications store features a variety of products and services including the latest wireless Internet services, such as Mobile WebTM and Mobile Office, and Mobile MessengerSM for two-way text messaging. Customers who visit during the grand opening may want to sign up for the new America's Choice plan, offering the best combination of geographic coverage and talk time made-to-order for wireless users. America's Choice is designed for wireless users who want the same rates to apply everywhere the company provides service. There are seven different pricing options, ranging from $35 for 300 minutes to $200 for 3,000 minutes.
In addition to these offers, the Decatur store is also featuring specials on the Audiovox 8100, the Kyocera 2135 and the Kyocera Smartphone QCP 6035, along with a premier line of other digital wireless phones, data products and accessories. The staff of trained professionals at each store can assist individuals in selecting equipment, calling plans or setting up Mobile Web, Verizon Wireless' Internet access service.
"We will offer our customers the very latest wireless communications technology in a modern, well-equipped, customer-friendly environment," said Davis. "They will get Verizon Wireless' topnotch service, in an environment where we are able to provide a broad range of equipment and service plans to suit every need backed by a Worry Free GuaranteeSM."
