Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider and sponsor of the * NSYNC 2001 POPODDESSY Tour, has donated concert tickets to Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Paso. Nine Big Brother and Big Sister "matches" will attend the concert at the Sun Bowl in El Paso on Aug. 27.
"Verizon Wireless is thrilled to be able to donate 18 concert tickets to support the youth-based programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters," said Syd Gross, Verizon Wireless branch manager. "The mentoring programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters make a real difference by setting a positive example for children in our community."
The Big Brother Big Sister matches were selected to attend the *NSYNC concert based on annual awards presented at the close of the summer. Attending the concert will be Michael Yokel, Luther Swan and their Big Brother, Charles "Chuck" Taylor (Match of the Year); and Susanna Lopez (Little of the Year) and her Big Sister Ana Boisselier. Justine Franco, 9, and her Big Sister, Mary Malmburg (Big of the Year), will also be guests of Verizon Wireless at a pre-concert sound check with *NSYNC. This is a special opportunity to visit with the band on a more intimate basis before their live performance.
"With the support of Verizon Wireless, Big Brothers Big Sisters is able to recognize and reward our matches and provide them with a fun opportunity to attend the *NSYNC concert," said Annette Flores, public relations manager. "This is an exciting opportunity that they might have thought was out of reach."
As a tour sponsor, Verizon Wireless will have a visible presence at the concert. In-venue promotions will include distinctive banners and messages on super-size screens. Concertgoers are invited to stop by the Verizon Wireless booth and have a free digital picture taken with a cutout of the band. The photo will then be sent electronically to those photographed so they can e-mail it to friends and family.
*NSYNC's appearance in El Paso is the final stop on the group's 38-city, 45-concert tour that kicked off May 23 in Jacksonville, Fl.
