Mobile Web Customers Will Be First to Receive Sales Information from Brick & Mortar Stores Via Their Web-enabled Wireless Phone

Los Angeles, CA, and Bedminster, NJ - Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless communications provider in the U.S., and SalesMountain.com, the world's most visited Sales-site delivering Sales advertising and promotional content for store-based retailers, service providers and e-tailers, today announced that the wireless leader has selected SalesMountain.com to deliver localized Sales and promotional information to Verizon Wireless' customers nationwide.

Beginning today, Verizon Wireless' Mobile Web customers will be able to access Sales information including description, pricing, phone number, and store location for tens of thousands of local and online Sales maintained in SalesMountain's comprehensive Sales database. SalesMountain's mobile service lists the top Sales in your local area plus Sales listings by brand, topic, and store. The products and services covered range from electronics and apparel to groceries, home furnishings, dry cleaning and office supplies. Customers who wish to call their favorite stores to verify the Sale and availability and to reserve the Sale merchandise for purchase and pickup may do so easily right off the phone menu.

Verizon Wireless today launched its nationwide Mobile Web service, which combines the convenience and mobility of wireless communications with popular content from the World Wide Web. The Mobile Web service, which runs on Verizon Wireless' robust and reliable, coast-to-coast CDMA network, gives users access to the Web-based information they want via their wireless handset.

According to a March report from the Yankee Group, the number of US mobile Internet users is predicted to soar from 1.8 million to 4 million by the end of 2000. The report also forecasts that 1 billion mobile Internet access devices will be in use around the world by 2003. Within the US, Jupiter Communications predicts that the total mobile Internet user base will exceed 100 million by 2003.
