Verizon Wishes Joe Waz Well

Joe Waz, senior vice president, external affairs and public policy counsel for Comcast, announced his retirement on Wednesday (March 23). The following statement should be attributed to Tom Tauke, Verizon executive vice president of public affairs, policy and communications:

"Joe Waz is a giant in the communications industry, and I can think of no one who has brought more intellectual capacity, integrity and honor to public policy advocacy. By developing good and sound policy through research and thoughtful dialogue, he has helped set the standard for how to bridge differences of opinion. Joe is persistent and takes the long view, with a focus on solutions that work for both consumers and the industry.

"We will miss his day-to-day involvement in the development of public policy here in Washington, but look forward to his contributions to the industry in his new roles."
