On today’s edition of Up To Speed, we shared how Verizon is helping close the digital divide by providing tools to help empower the next generation.

Verizon Innovative Learning

The Verizon Innovative Learning program has provided the tools to help millions of students thrive in communities that need it most.

Through Verizon’s dedication to education initiatives, we’re working to scale resources and provide next-generation learning for all.

Verizon Innovative Learning HQ

One way we’re doing this is through Verizon Innovative Learning HQ which is a free online education portal built in partnership with trusted education partners including McGraw Hill and Discovery Education

It empowers educators to bring new ways of learning and next-gen tech into the learning experience.

The online portal includes hundreds of free lessons for K-12 and immersive learning experiences with AR/VR that can be accessed with a VR headset or even a mobile device. There’s also professional development for educators to learn new skills and feel more confident integrating technology into the learning experience.

Volunteer Portal

Helping foster our next generation is a group effort, there are plenty of ways in which you can help.

One way is by volunteering with nonprofit organizations through the Citizen Verizon Volunteers portal like Big Brothers Big Sisters, NAF, Junior Achievement, Black Girls Code, CareerVillage.org, and more.

Volunteer opportunities include 1:1 mentorship, student resume reviews, virtual STEM tutoring, sharing professional advice & encouragement, classroom guest speaking, and more.

Take Your Child to Work Day

Take Your Child to Work Day is Thursday, April 27th!

It’s a great bonding opportunity for your family and there’s something for all V Teamers and their children to take advantage of.

If you happen to work out of one of our hub locations there are plenty of activities including professional headshots, kids interviewing parents and even a financial literacy course hosted by Fidelity for kids.

And if you’re a remote V Teamer, don’t worry, our take your child to work day virtual experience includes virtual activities that you and your child can experience including volunteer initiatives, virtual building tours, wellness exercise demos and more.

And, if you need a little more time to enjoy the activities, you can enjoy some at your own pace with on-demand activities like Verizon-themed coloring pages, virtual volunteering and participating in an emoji design lesson.

If you have any questions about the plans for Take Your Child to Work Day be sure to connect with our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Team.

Tell us what you think of Up To Speed.
