From network upgrades to our winning V Team, Verizon has all the right moves at the NFL Draft.
On today’s edition of Up To Speed, we shared all of the ways in which we’ve upgraded the football fan experience for the 2023 NFL Draft.
Verizon is the Official 5G Network of the NFL, and we’re showcasing the transformative power of our 5G network through our upgraded enhancements throughout the Kansas City area, and highlighting the perks of being a customer on the network America relies on.
Long before tonight’s top pick is announced to football fans around the world, we’ve been hard at work building and enhancing our network and reminding our customers why we’re a number-one pick, every single year.
Kansas City network upgrades
Earlier this year, Verizon made permanent network upgrades in Kansas City, including a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) in the Kansas City International Airport, which provides wireless service throughout the terminals and makes it easier for travelers to connect and download content to watch on flights. We also added capacity and coverage with four new macro cell sites covering the metro area.
Verizon engineers have also deployed temporary 5G Ultra Wideband cell sites specifically covering the sites of this year’s NFL Draft events, as well as temporary in-building solutions throughout Union Station and at local hotels.
Those are just some of the reasons customers in Kansas City have the best overall network experience, accessibility, speed and reliability, when using Verizon, according to the nation’s most rigorous scientific testing company, RootMetrics.
Our mobile assets run (60 feet) deep!
We showed off these transformative enhancements to national and local media outlets who toured our Union Station upgrades and our incredible cave of mobile assets – a mammoth 20,000 square-foot underground Verizon facility – buried 60 feet below ground just outside of Kansas City. Capable of handling major events, natural disasters and everything in between, our cave provides safe and convenient storage to deploy emergency mobile assets.
Verizon Home Internet is always the right answer
Verizon shared big facts about our local network enhancements that help make Verizon Home Internet the right choice during Tuesday’s trivia-night event at Brew Lab in nearby Overland Park, Kansas. Trivia buffs learned more about Verizon services, and even got a “Draft” beer or a snack on Verizon.

We also shared our love for our Kansas City-area V Team by filling the fridge with grocery goodies and getting first-person feedback from staff at our Barrytowne, Liberty and State Line retail stores.
Making Kansas City – and the world – a better place
We also kept the good vibes going this week, when Verizon partnered with NFL Green to help beautify Kansas City with tree-planting events to continue a “green” legacy in communities that host the NFL’s biggest events.
