Highlighting a V Teamer in the military and how we are spreading the love for myPlan.
Our editorial transparency tool uses blockchain technology to permanently log all changes made to official releases after publication. However, this post is not an official release and therefore not tracked. Visit our learn more for more information.
In today’s edition of Up To Speed Live, hosts Raquel Wilson and Jen Marin showed us all the ways we’re spreading the word about myPlan around the country, as well as some ways our V Team can get in on the fun. Plus, we learned about some exciting partnerships and heard from one of our V Teamers on Military Appreciation Month.
Last week, we announced myPlan, the first-of-its-kind plan in the U.S. that gives customers freedom and full control.
You can start with our most popular mobile plans and customize them to make it your own. Love Apple? Get everything Apple all in one place. Choose Unlimited Plus with Apple One that comes with Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and iCloud+.
If you love a content library of incredible movies, shows and sports, get Unlimited Plus with the Disney Bundle perk. If online shopping and saving on entertainment is more your style, pair Unlimited Welcome with the Walmart+ Membership perk that also includes Paramount+.
If you’d rather build your own plan, there’s just two steps:
- First, you’ll choose your Unlimited network option: either Unlimited Plus with 5G Ultra Wideband, our fastest 5G, 30 GB of premium mobile hotspot data, and up to 50% off a watch, tablet, hotspot or Hum plan, or Unlimited Welcome with fast, reliable 5G. Plus, for a limited time, the price you pay for your Unlimited Plus monthly plan is guaranteed for three years (price guarantee excludes taxes and fees).
- Next, you’ll choose your favorite content and services – we’re calling them “perks” because at just $10/month per perk, you’re saving anywhere from $3 to $35 per month.
V Teamers on the Employee Phone Program can participate in our new plans and get 50% off both service and perks (without the AutoPay discount).
And last week, you may have seen Verizon signs, sans the “i,” pop up all across the country, giving you the opportunity to stand in the center because it’s all about the customer.
If you’ve snapped a photo at one of these signs, send it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or tag us on social media @InsideVerizon. You may win a gift card to our brand shop to get the Verizon apparel on your wishlist.
Social Advocacy Giveaway
Spread the word about myPlan! Eligible employees can join IamVZ, our social advocacy tool, and share a post about myPlan for a chance to win a Galaxy S23.
Our local communications team has been traveling the country to spread the word about myPlan, which has landed 262 local stories nationwide.
myPlan has been the star of the show in segments ranging from summer travel to Father’s Day tech. With over 76 appearances on TV stations nationwide last week alone, be on the lookout for more segments in the days to come.
We’re also teaming up with Marcus Cinemas to offer 100 people in ten cities the opportunity to pick their movie and pick their perks – in this case, concession snacks – all on us. Attendees from Lexington to Atlanta have been learning more about myPlan and how building your plan is as simple and easy as a night at the movies.
Verizon Home Device Protect
The average U.S. household has 22 wi-fi connected devices and spends close to 12,000 dollars on home technology!
For $25 per month, Verizon is offering an all-in-one protection plan called Verizon Home Device Protect for the eligible tech products in your home, ranging from smart watches, earphones, to flat screen TVs and more. Plus, our 24/7 on-call support is with you every step of the way when something goes wrong with your technology.
Unlike many other coverage plans, Verizon Home Device Protect will repair or replace an unlimited number of eligible home tech products – no matter where you bought them, how old they are, and even without receipts or registration.
We’re proud to announce that Verizon is the Official 5G Innovation Partner of Viola Davis and JuVee Productions, and together, we just won a Webby Award in the category of Metaverse, Immersive & Virtual Diversity, Equity & Inclusion 2023 for "Iago: The Green Eyed Monster," an immersive AR experience only available on 5G-capable devices.
Verizon provided technical guidance to the production team to ensure there was a strong 5G use case with the high-bandwidth motion capture data and AR assets.
We also received an award in the category of Metaverse, Immersive & Virtual: Best Audience Integration with our work on the Verizon Pepsi Halftime Ultra Pass for last year’s 2022 Super Bowl Halftime show.
Ultra Pass was an immersive, real-time metaverse experience that used eleven 360° 8K cameras along with America’s most reliable 5G network to let half a million fans virtually crash the stadium during the west coast hip hop halftime show extravaganza.
Our Global Network and Technology team is gearing up to keep over 300,00 fans connected at the 107th Indianapolis 500 this Sunday, May 28th. Verizon has upgraded the network at Indianapolis Motor Speedway so fans can stream and share their experiences quickly and reliably.
With 5G Multi-View, fans at the event can customize their viewing experience in real-time. Fans can toggle between seven different camera angles of live action from the track on their phones, including the live TV broadcast.
5G Hack at the Track
Over 70 local high school students attended the Verizon-sponsored 5G Hack at the Track event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where they got to meet special guest star Will Power, driver of the number 12 Verizon 5G Chevrolet for Team Penske, as well as Indianapolis Colts player, Kylen Granson.
The students spent the day "hacking" ideas on how 5G technology can impact the world of motorsports and also got a special on-the-track experience to check out some behind-the-scenes action.
Military Appreciation Month
May is Military Appreciation Month, an opportunity to reflect and honor the service and sacrifice of service members and their families, including those on our V Team.
John Workman, a Command Sergeant Major with the Oklahoma Army National Guard, also serves as a network engineer within our Verizon Business Group.
John has dedicated 25 years of service to the United States Army and is now gearing up for a nine-month deployment overseas alongside his fellow soldiers as Task Force Tomahawk to support operations within the U.S. Africa Command’s area of responsibility.
John is currently on extended military leave but was kind enough to speak with us about how much Verizon’s support means to him.
“I’ve been at Verizon for about 5 years, and it means so much to be supported in such an amazing and awesome way by the V Team at large.” When it comes to military leave, John said that Verizon “goes above and beyond” and he “wouldn’t be able to do this without that support” from the V Team, and especially his team in Tulsa.
