On today’s edition of Up To Speed, we met V Teamer Ashley Gadson, a Customer Service Production Support Engineer based in Greenville, SC.
Ashley is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and has been working at Verizon for almost 8 years, beginning her career back in 2015 with our tech support department.
“When I first started I was straight out of college so being able to have such supportive leadership, it meant the world to me,” Ashley said.
Outside of Verizon, Ashley is also a professional DJ but has found a way to merge both passions by using her DJ skills to contribute to some events held by our Employee Resource Groups.
“I’ve been afforded the opportunities to DJ for different WAVE events and also BOLD events,” Ashley said. “It’s awesome to be able to bring my personal and work together.”
Ashley is grateful to be able to work for a company that supports her showing up as her authentic self, everyday.
“To see the work that is put into these ERG’s daily shows that people truly care,” Ashley said. “Just being able to have those safe spaces and being able to have authentic conversations at work in a respectful manner, where everyone is heard – is an awesome feeling to know you do have that support.”
As for her advice for other V Teamers as they continue to grow within Verizon:
“Define what makes you, you and continue to show up authentically yourself,” Ashley said. “Be knowledgeable of the role itself and just keep customers at the forefront.”
She was transparent in sharing that she hasn’t always acquired every role she’s applied for but encourages others to never give up and continue pushing forward.
