The devastating storms in the Midwest continue to make it difficult for customers in the area to get back to a sense of normalcy. Beginning today through June 5, Verizon is offering unlimited calling, texting and data to all of its prepaid and postpaid customers located in parts of Arkansas, East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio - including the city of Dayton.

In addition, the Verizon Foundation is making a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross of Dayton to assist with relief efforts. You can make a $10 donation to the American Red Cross by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999. Please also give to VtoV, our employee relief fund, which helps employees who are displaced from their homes in a disaster, emergency or as a result of domestic violence. Let’s keep the fund strong.

Although Military Appreciation Month is coming to an end later this week, our commitment and gratitude for our nation’s heroes never ceases. Here are just some of the things we’ve done this month.

  • V Teamers wrote letters and collected items for Operation Gratitude to send to deployed service members, recruits and military families and thank them for their commitment, sacrifice and bravery.
  • Verizon also partnered with the Flags of Valor program, where V Teamers assembled wooden American flags and included their messages of thanks. It’s a great team building event for an even greater cause.
  • Last week, hundreds of V Teamers joined Carry the Load walks in 16 U.S. locations coast to coast to honor and celebrate the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes.
  • Our East Area retail stores hosted a Warm Feet for Warriors sock drive. The socks will be shipped to Soldiers Angels and added to care packages for those deployed or distributed to veterans in VA hospitals.

Elaine Brye is thankful to the Verizon network for always being able to stay connected to her kids. She’s the mother of four children serving in four different branches of the military. Jeremy sat down with Elaine to find out why this month is so special for her.

It’s all on today’s Up To Speed, the best place for everything happening around and inside Verizon.
