Last week, leaders from around the world gathered in New York City for the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Every year, representatives from UN countries gather at the General Assembly to solve problems diplomatically and tackle together the issues that are facing the world at large.
One of the most pressing issues this year is sustainability and the world climate. Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg is a board member of the UN Foundation, and helped to write some of the goals for the Leadership Council of Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
During the UN Climate Summit this week, Verizon and our partners are going to have a big presence. RYOT has created an Augmented Reality projection map to create a disruptive and immersive visual experience on the walls of the General Assembly.
At our BUILD studios, we’ll be hosting a discussion about sustainable business and practices that will be livestreamed on the web.
Lastly, we’ve partnered with Global Citizen to help support their music festival this Saturday the 28th in Central Park. Incredible acts like Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, and Carole King will be taking the stage to support a movement to help end extreme global poverty by 2030. Hans will even be taking the stage with Pharrell to make a special announcement.
Stay @VZUpToSpeed with us all week long, as we work towards a more sustainable future together.
