Verizon applauds Rubio 'Wireless Innovation Act'

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, R-FL, introduced today (June 12) “The Wireless Innovation Act,” which requires the Federal Government to identify an additional 140 MHz of spectrum for commercial mobile use. The following statement should be attributed to Peter Davidson, Verizon senior vice president of federal government relations:

“Consumers are demanding more wireless bandwidth to run a growing number of spectrum-intensive devices, services and applications. This bill aims to create a much-needed pipeline to meet consumer demand and will give the wireless industry certainty in spectrum coming to market. Aligned with efforts by the Administration, this bill would help ensure wireless networks have the capacity to serve consumer mobile broadband needs.

“Verizon applauds Senator Rubio for his leadership, and will work with him, other Members of Congress, and the Administration on this and other initiatives that put more spectrum into the hands of consumers.”
