The Benefits of Pay-as-You-Go Cloud
Because the government has been slower to adopt cloud services, it has also been slow to adopt some of its benefits, including price flexibility. One perk of the cloud is a “pay-as-you-go” pricing structure. By introducing new options such as instance-based virtual machines and removing potential barriers to cloud adoption, Verizon is providing its public sector clients with the flexibility and choice they need to meet their operational objectives. Verizon's IoT business grew 45 percent in 2014, due to that new data payload being wirelessly generated by sensors and delivered to machines or people. It also secured its place in more segments of the market with the acquisition of Hughes Telematics and M2M platform provider nPhase. (Channel Partners)

Startup Incubator Names 10 Companies Receiving Funding
“Techstars Mobility, Driven by Detroit” — a startup incubator backed by Ford Motor Co. and other partners — announced Thursday the first round of 10 companies it will fund. Ford, Verizon Telematics and auto supplier Magna International Inc. are investing $2 million in Techstars, which will fund a total of 30 startups over the next three years. (The Detroit News)
