BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless provider in the U.S., received the highest overall score among wireless Internet services for its Mobile Web™ service by PC Magazine. Without "one network interruption" while testing the Mobile Web™ service, PC Magazine reviewers agreed that Verizon Wireless' Mobile Web™ service provides comprehensive and reliable content to customers.
With dozens of content partners including Zagat, *ETRADE, Yahoo!, Hollywood.com, MSN and ESPN, Verizon Wireless' Mobile Web™ customers can receive timely and relevant information on news, sports, finance and much more. Customers have the benefit of customizing the information they want to see either directly from their handset or via desktop on the "MyVZW" portal ( www.myVZW.com), which provides e-mail access and a personal home page.
"The combination of strong content partners and our company's superior network led to the highest overall score from PC Magazine for our Mobile Web™ service," said Gary Schulman, president of Verizon Wireless' Internet and Data division. "Verizon Wireless will continue to invest in its network to provide customers with wireless services they can access quickly and efficiently."
The PC Magazine April 24th Wireless Super Guide issue evaluated the latest in wireless devices and services in four categories: Palm/Handspring; PC Cards/Pocket PCs; Internet Phones; and Two-Way Pagers. In addition to Verizon Wireless' Mobile Web™ service, AT&T's Digital PocketNet Service, Nextel Online and Sprint PCS Wireless Web were evaluated in the Internet Phones category.
The PC Magazine reviewers rated each Internet phone service on several factors including U.S. coverage area; interface; Internet browsing and ease of use in addition to testing how long it would take to search for a CD title on Amazon.com or use the menu selection to request the day's headlines. The Verizon Wireless Mobile Web™ service was tested on a Motorola Timeport P8767 phone.
