FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Verizon Wireless today announced it has placed a new digital cell site at Military Park to provide greater signal coverage in that area. The company also added digital service and expanded the signal coverage of a cellular antenna west of town. The addition of digital service also increases the network's capacity in Fredericksburg.
The net result is that customers will be able to make and receive calls in a wider geographic area. They will also experience fewer blocked or dropped calls as well as better call clarity and longer battery life.
The project is part of the company's $200 million initiative to build out its network in the Washington-Baltimore-Virginia region. In 2001, Verizon Wireless is investing more than $4 billion in its nationwide wireless network.
