OVERLAND PARK, KS — Verizon Wireless will celebrate the grand opening of its newest communications store, located at 9222 Metcalf Avenue, by giving a $4,000 check to Temporary Lodging for Children during the festivities on Wednesday, September 19.
Temporary Lodging for Children (TLC) provides shelter and social services to children and youth who need temporary living arrangements and/or services because of abuse, neglect or family disruption. TLC touches the lives of approximately 100 youth each day. Verizon Wireless' donation will support TLC's October Book and Author Gala.
"Verizon Wireless has a long history of supporting domestic violence abuse agencies," said Kirk Golbach - president, Kansas/Missouri region for Verizon Wireless. "In an effort to continue our support of organizations in the Kansas City metropolitan area we hope our support of TLC helps make a difference in the lives of these children who face extraordinary circumstances."
"We are excited that Verizon Wireless is our presenting sponsor of this year's Book and Author Gala," explained Bob Drummond, Chief Operating Officer of TLC. "Their generosity will allow Temporary Lodging for Children to continue to provide services for local children in crisis."
The check presentation will be the highlight of the grand opening festivities. Chuck Bresette, manager of the new Verizon Wireless Regency Park communications store, will present the check to Drummond at 10:00 a.m. on September 19.
In addition to presenting the check, Verizon Wireless will celebrate the grand opening in a number of other ways. Radio station KRBZ FM will broadcast live at the store from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m on Saturday, September 22. Verizon Wireless giveaways will be available, and customers will receive a special promotional offer of 3000 nights and weekend minutes for life on local and regional price plans starting as low as $35 monthly access fee. Also, customers will receive a 25 percent discount off all accessories.
The new Verizon Wireless communications store features a variety of products and services, including a premier line of digital wireless phones, data products and hands-free calling devices. The staff of trained professionals can assist individuals in selecting equipment and making decisions on calling plans.
"Our customer base is expanding in the Overland Park area," said Bresette. "Our new location will give customers more convenient access to our products and services and allow us to provide even better customer service." The store will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
