BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless, a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) and Vodafone Group (NYSE and LSE: VOD), has named Andrew Halford Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for revenue assurance, financial analysis and planning, auditing, tax, treasury and controller organizations for the $17B company, the largest wireless provider in the US. Halford replaces Edward Langston, who returned to a position at Vodafone Group in the UK.
Previously, Halford was Financial Director for Vodafone's Northern Europe, Middle East and Africa regions, encompassing nine countries serving populations of more than 300 million people. He was involved in the acquisition, integration and start up of a number of these businesses.
He was also Financial Director for the largest mobile operator in the UK, Vodafone UK Limited, where he was involved in restructuring the business, and programs to overhaul support systems and to reduce the overall cost structure.
Prior to joining Vodafone, he held a number of business development, IT and finance directorships in the UK electricity sector.
He began his career with Price Waterhouse, where he worked in a number of assignments in the UK and in South Africa.
Halford is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England, for which he qualified in 1983.
