BEDMINSTER, NJ and SCARBOROUGH, ON — Today the Canadian and U.S. wireless industry associations - the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) and the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) - announced cross-border inter-carrier text messaging services, which allow most U.S. and Canadian wireless customers to send short text messages to one another.
At the same time, Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless service provider in the United States, and Canadian roaming partner TELUS Mobility released their list of fun and friendly text messaging phrases that their respective customers can share with one another.
To encourage cross-border conversation, following is a list of U.S.-Canadian text messaging phrases clients can use as a starting point:

Customers who sign up for TXT Messaging, Verizon Wireless' short text messaging service, through March 31, 2003 will receive unlimited text messages and alerts for just $2.99 (USD) per month until June 30, 2003. After the promotional period, customers will be allowed 100 messages per month at $2.99 (USD) per month with excess messages charged at $.02 received and $.10 sent.
TELUS Mobility PCS clients can send text messages for 10 cents (cdn.) per message, receive text messages sent from a wireless phone for free, and send up to 100 messages for just $5 per month (free to receive messages sent from a wireless phone).
