BOCA RATON, FL — Christine Churchman Tringali, a senior interconnect engineer with Verizon Wireless, has been appointed by Florida Governor Jeb Bush to the Florida Wireless 911 Board. The seven-member board — established in 1999 to administer the fees imposed for certain wireless 911 telephone services — is chaired by the secretary of the state's Department of Management Services and includes three representatives from the wireless industry and three county 911 coordinators.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires wireless providers to provide enhanced 911(E911) service in the form of automatic location identification and automatic number identification to maximize the availability of E911 services throughout the state. Wireless providers and counties that operate 911 and E911 systems require adequate funding to recover the costs of designing, purchasing, installing, testing, and operating enhanced facilities, systems, and services necessary to comply with the FCC requirements.

Ms. Tringali — a resident of Boynton Beach who works out of the Verizon Wireless Florida headquarters in Boca Raton — will serve on the board through October 28, 2007. She has worked in the wireless communications industry for 10 years, the last nine within the Verizon Wireless organization.

"We're very proud of Christine's accomplishments, and honored that Gov. Bush has selected a Verizon Wireless employee to help serve the people of Florida," said Mike Lanman, Florida region president for Verizon Wireless. "He has chosen a talented, tireless worker."

Verizon Wireless offers customers the most reliable service available on the nation's largest wireless network.
