ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — As part of their community service/church mission project, youth members of AME Churches across New Jersey collected approximately 200 wireless phones to benefit Verizon Wireless' national HopeLineSM program. Through HopeLine, previously owned wireless phones are collected and refurbished, recycled and/or sold to benefit victims of domestic violence.
The phone presentation was made at AME's annual conference held in Atlantic City. Randolph Hamilton, business manager of Verizon Wireless, presented a HopeLine Hero certificate to recognize children involved with the project.
As a result of HopeLine and related phone recycling programs Verizon Wireless has organized since 1995, the company has collected more than 1.5 million used wireless phones for the benefit of domestic violence victims and advocacy groups.
