Louisville, Kentucky International Airport Visitors To Get Better Wireless Phone Service

LOUISVILLE, KY — Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site near Louisville International, expanding the company's digital network coverage and capacity for its customers traveling in and out of the city's airport.

The new cell site increases the number of customers capable of using the network concurrently, providing more than enough coverage to handle the countless Verizon Wireless customers who rely on the network to stay in touch while traveling and use NationalAccess, the company's high-speed wireless Internet connection. Approximately 9,000 travelers arrive at and depart from Louisville International Airport daily.

"With the increased amount of time spent waiting in airports, particularly since 9/11, many travelers depend on their wireless phones even more to be productive," said Greg Haller, president — Kentucky/Indiana/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. "Whether they're traveling for business or pleasure, whether they're answering voicemails, reading e-mail or checking on the kids, frequent fliers depend on a strong wireless network. This new cell site demonstrates Verizon Wireless' commitment to providing our customers with the reliability they expect from us."

The new Louisville cell site is part of Verizon Wireless' continuous upgrades to its network in Kentucky and across the country. During the past three years, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $12 billion in its national network, offering customers access to the most extensive and reliable wireless voice and data network in the United States.
