BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless' Music Unleashed Concert Series kicks off its second national tour July 1 in Niagara Falls with world-famous Melbourne, Australian rock band, Jet (www.jetconcerts.com) whose debut album, Get Born has been certified Platinum. Jet is the latest addition to the Verizon Wireless' Music Unleashed Concert Series, which allows fans to legally personalize and share the mobile music they love with other fans, friends and the band themselves. Through the series, Verizon Wireless gives fans innovative options to participate in the tour through remixing contests, wireless downloads, picture and text blogging, live chats with other fans, plus, best of all, the chance to win free tickets and meet the band in person.
"Our Music Unleashed Concert Series takes tour sponsorship to a new level of fan participation," said Bill Stone, vice president of marketing for Verizon Wireless. "This series allows wireless technology to truly enhance the music experience with fans at the concerts, and for those who interact with the band via their mobile phone."
In addition to Jet ringtones that are accessible to fans who are also Verizon Wireless Get It Now® customers, new and unique content will be available from each Jet concert as well as at the Download Zone, where fans can get Jet ringtones, screen savers and wallpaper from the actual concert they attended or through the Jet Club hosted by Verizon Wireless. Get It Now, available on selected handsets, is Verizon Wireless' virtual shopping mall with more than 500 downloadable games, ringtones and productivity tools.
Fans can win tickets by entering an online sweepstakes at www.jetconcerts.com or by text messaging to the short code "59581" and then specifying which concert they wish to attend. Ten winners in each city will win a pair of tickets to the concert and the opportunity to meet Jet after the show. Text messaging charges will apply.
Fans are also encouraged to enter a skill-based contest by remixing Jet's newest single "Rollover DJ" online. Each time fans make and e-mail a remix, they will be entered into a daily lottery drawing where one finalist will be selected each day. From the pool of remix finalists, Jet will choose the winning remix and make one fan a star. The winner and a guest will not only fly to the final concert in San Francisco at the Fillmore on July 27 for red carpet treatment, but also receive a $2,500 cash prize in recognition of their star-making music remix. The prize-winning remix will debut at the concert as well as be produced as a ringtone and made available for the world to download as a ringtone as the "Official Remix of the Jet tour." Participants must be 13 and older to enter any of the Jet sweepstakes or Remix contests.
The already successful Verizon Wireless Music Unleashed Concert Series was created to reach the growing wireless youth market in the United States. Through the concert series, Verizon Wireless continues to attract youth through today's latest music, while increasing market share and future subscribers. The Music Unleashed Concert Series kicked off in May 2004 with Maroon 5, featuring a variety of participative activities including music remixing, fan-to-band chat sessions and site downloads. With 2.5 million hits to the Web site (www.maroon5concerts.com), more than 12,000 remixes were created of the band's hit song "This Love." The Maroon 5 site attracted an amazing 80% female digital and interactive participation rate, a new threshold in tour history. The series was also the premiere of the first national band chat facilitated through Mobile IM, the AOL IM on Verizon Wireless mobile phones, with more than 10,000 questions in the first 48 hours alone with a significant amount originating from mobile phones.
