Verizon Wireless Reports Excellent Network Performance At The Democratic National Convention
BOSTON, MA — Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, is pleased to report that even during the very busy week of the Democratic National Convention, it was 'business as usual' for the nation's most reliable wireless network.
Verizon Wireless planned ahead for the expected increase in wireless voice and data calls by Convention goers, tourists, the media, and local residents with an investment of nearly $2 million to enhance its network capacity and upgrades. In addition, the company also deployed a "Cell On Wheels," or COW - a portable cell site - to provide additional capacity, especially in high wireless traffic areas.
"As expected, our network performed extremely well, deftly handling 40 percent more wireless calls than normal for a last week in July, said Bob Stott, president of Verizon Wireless' New England Region. "Our efforts to increase wireless capacity inside the FleetCenter and the immediate surrounding area to accommodate expanded wireless usage on the DNC convention floor, local streets, hotels and restaurants were very successful, providing the level of high quality service customers expect from the leading wireless provider."
