Verizon Wireless Adding Another 200 Jobs At Henrietta, New York Call Center
ROCHESTER, NY — Verizon Wireless is adding another 200 full-time positions at its Henrietta call center in the fourth quarter of 2004 and first quarter of 2005. The new jobs will be a combination of entry-level representative, supervisory and management positions. The 200 new positions are in addition to 200 jobs the company has added since the beginning of the year.
The Henrietta call center now employs more than 600 representatives, up from 200 reps just two years ago. The company cites strong customer growth and the availability of a skilled local talent pool as the main drivers of the call center's continuing expansion.
"Verizon Wireless is growing at a much faster pace than most of our competitors," said John Palmer, Upstate New York regional president. "As our customer base grows, we need more and more skilled customer service representatives to serve them We've been extremely fortunate to find such high-quality talent in the Rochester area as we've grown our local call center. The level of skill they've demonstrated serving our customers has allowed us to continue to expand here in Rochester. Today's announcement further endorses our commitment to the Rochester area and to maintaining superior customer service for our customers throughout the Northeast."
Verizon Wireless currently employs more than 825 people in the Rochester area at its regional headquarters and call center in Henrietta, and in its seven local communications stores.
The company is also increasing its retail sales force by adding 150 jobs across Upstate New York, including 25 in its Rochester-area Communications Stores and at three local Circuit City locations. Verizon Wireless and Circuit City recently announced they will be offering Verizon Wireless "stores-within-a-store" at Circuit City locations nationwide.
The new positions will offer competitive salary and benefits packages including medical, dental and vision coverage; participation in the company's 401k program from the first day of employment; tuition reimbursement; an annual bonus program for non-sales employees; and a long-term incentive program similar to stock options. In addition, Verizon Wireless offers an exciting work environment and was recently named one of Working Mother magazine's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" for the fourth consecutive year.
Individuals interested in applying for one of these new positions are encouraged to call 1-800-575-HIRE or to visit www.verizonwireless.com/careers.
In July, Verizon Wireless announced second quarter subscriber growth of more than 1.5 million new customers nationwide. The increased subscriber growth has been attributed to the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services and its continuing deployment of advanced wireless products and services. Providing superior customer service is only part of the company's commitment to offer customers the nation's best wireless service on the most reliable network.
