Verizon Wireless Phone Users in Yankton, South Dakota Receive Improved Service
YANKTON, SD — Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site on the southeast side of Yankton to improve the town's in-building wireless coverage and service. The new cell site also will increase network capacity in Yankton, enabling more residents to use the network concurrently.
"This site is part of our commitment to improving our network in South Dakota," said Nancy B. Clarkpresident Great Plains Region, Verizon Wireless. "Now our customers in Yankton will experience fewer dropped calls and clearer reception while talking on their wireless phones, handling data applications (such as TXT and Picture Messaging) or downloading games and ringtones with our Get It Now® services."
Verizon Wireless has activated eleven new cell sites in South Dakota this year as part of the company's continuous effort to increase capacity and augment the quality of its wireless voice and data network in the state. Additionally, the company opened a new $20 million switching center in Sioux Falls (which processes all Verizon Wireless calls in South Dakota) to meet future network capacity needs.
Nationally, Verizon Wireless invests about $1 billion every 90 days to improve and expand what is already the most reliable wireless network in the United States.
