Verizon Wireless Adds Eleven New Cell Sites in Joplin, Missouri Area

JOPLIN, MO — Verizon Wireless today announced it has activated eleven new cell sites in Joplin and the surrounding area, providing customers with additional coverage in southwest Missouri and in a number of towns in two neighboring states-Kansas and Oklahoma.

"We place equal importance on service in rural areas and more populated locations, and the Joplin area has been a priority for us. With the addition of new cell sites, our customers will enjoy even greater coverage when using their wireless phones in and around Joplin."

The recent enhancements will improve coverage in the following locations:


  • Neosho-in the southern portion of Neosho and along U.S. highways 60 and 71 south of town

  • Jaguar- along U.S. Hwy. 71 south of Interstate 44


  • Baxter Springs-in and around the Baxter Springs area and along U.S. highway 66 south of town

  • Riverton-in and around the Riverton area and along U.S. highway 66 between Galena and Baxter Springs


  • Miami-in and around the Miami area
  • Quapaw-in and around the Quapaw area
  • Commerce-in and around the Commerce area and portions of U.S. Hwy. 69 north of town.
  • Interstate 44 and U.S. Hwy. 66-four new cell sites around the Interstate 44 and U.S. highway 66 area between Joplin, Mo., and Miami, Okla.

The network enhancements are part of a $91 million planned investment in 2004 to improve the company's wireless network in the Kansas/Missouri Region. During the past four years, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $16 billion in its national network, offering customers access to the most extensive and reliable wireless voice and data network in the United States.
