Louisvillians Receive Improved Wireless Phone Service From Enhanced Network

LOUISVILLE, KY — To stay ahead of its growing customer base and demand for its voice and data services, Verizon Wireless has activated two new cell sites in Louisville and upgraded several others throughout the area.

One new cell site improves the company's digital network capacity, enabling more residents and travelers to use their phones concurrently. These enhancements improve service near the Summit and Springhurst shopping areas, at the intersection of Interstate-71 and Interstate-265, and along Interstate-265 between exits 33 and 37.

The second new site enhances capacity and in-building coverage at locations near the intersection of Six Mile Lane and Hurstbourne Parkway, including the Stonybrook shopping area and Jackson Square.

Upgrades to other cell sites in the Louisville market increase network capacity along the Interstate-65 corridor from downtown Louisville south to Lebanon Junction, and in the southeastern portion of Jefferson County.

These network enhancements will enable Verizon Wireless customers to experience fewer dropped calls and clearer reception while talking on their wireless phones, handling data applications (such as TXT and Picture Messaging) or downloading games and ring tones with the company's Get It Now® services.

"During the past year in Louisville, our customer base has grown and the average number of minutes our customers use their wireless phones has increased, resulting in a 20 percent growth in volume on our network," said Greg Haller, president—Kentucky/Indiana/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. "These network enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the high quality of service they expect from Verizon Wireless."

These improvements are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous effort to increase capacity and augment the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Kentucky and across the country. Nationally each year, the company invests about $1 billion every 90 days to improve and expand what is already the most reliable wireless network in the United States. Approximately $26 million of this investment will be spent this year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in Kentucky.
