GRAND FORKS, ND — To stay ahead of its growing customer base and demand for its voice and data services, Verizon Wireless has activated one new cell site and upgraded existing sites in Grand Forks, N.D., that improve the company's digital network coverage and capacity. These network enhancements have been made in advance of the arrival of an estimated 250,000 attendees of the World Junior Hockey Championship to be held in Grand Forks on Dec. 25Jan. 4.
Located west of the Red River in downtown Grand Forks, the new site will improve network coverage and capacity as well as signal penetration into buildings for downtown area businesses and restaurants in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, Minn. This new cell site, and the added capacity to existing cell sites, will enable more area residents to use the Verizon Wireless' network concurrently.
"The World Junior Hockey Championship will significantly increase network traffic in the Grand Forks area. Our commitment is to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the high quality of service they expect from Verizon Wireless," said Nancy Clark, presidentGreat Plains Region, Verizon Wireless.
The network enhancements in Grand Forks are part of Verizon Wireless' aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year. Nationally, Verizon Wireless invests about $1 billion every 90 days to improve and expand what is already the most reliable wireless network in the United States.
